Thu 19 Feb 2026 12:00 - 13:00 at America's Ballroom (220 Complex) - First Timers' Lunch

The SIGCSE Technical Symposium brings together almost 2,000 people who share the common goal of improving computer science education. While this common goal helps us meet others with shared interests, the scale and complexity of the technical symposium can make it overwhelming and difficult to navigate. This session will help you make connections with other attendees and better understand the Technical Symposium so that you can make the most of your time in St. Louis.

We will discuss the types of sessions available at the Technical Symposium (papers, panels, special sessions, posters, and birds-of-a-feather, among others) and the benefits that each provides to both authors and attendees. It is also an opportunity to learn about how the symposium is organized and how to become more involved and connected to its community; participate in the review process, lead a session, or join one of the committees! We will also share our first technical symposiums experiences, what we wished we had known, and tips and tricks that we have discovered over the years to navigate it effectively.
