Thu 19 Feb 2026 13:40 - 15:00 at Meeting Room 275 - Special Session

In the current socio-political climate, computing educators across the United States are facing increasing challenges, including threats to academic freedom, reduced funding for higher education, and direct attacks on initiatives supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion. At SIGCSE 2025, a last-minute discussion titled “Emerging Threats to Computing Education Community Discussion” drew over 80 attendees, spilling into an overflow room, demonstrating strong community interest and the urgent need for honest dialogue.

In this special session, we seek to formalize that momentum into a structured, inclusive forum at SIGCSE 2026. Our goals are to raise awareness of current legislation and policies affecting computing educators and students, provide a space for collective reflection and strategy-sharing, and foster collaboration across institutions.
