Name:Mabrouka Chouchane
Bio:

Dr. Mabrouka Chouchane is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Higher Institute of Management of Gabes (ISG Gabès), Tunisia. She obtained her PhD in Computer Science in 2021 from the National School of Computer Science (ENSI), Manouba, under the supervision of Professor Khaled Ghedira. She is also an active member of the LARIA research laboratory (ENSI), Manouba, Tunisia. Her research primarily focuses on the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI), mobile user interface design, and software engineering methods. Dr. Chouchane is particularly interested in leveraging machine learning, deep learning, and evolutionary algorithms to address challenges related to the quality, usability, and optimization of mobile and web user interfaces.

Dr. Mabrouka Chouchane’s research interests span several areas, including: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Mobile User Interface Design and Evaluation, Software Engineering Methods for Mobile Applications, Application of Machine Learning and Deep Learning to User Interface Optimization, Evolutionary Algorithms for Solving UI Quality and Refactoring Problems.

Dr. Chouchane’s research is organized into three primary axes: Ergonomic Quality of Mobile User Interfaces: Investigating the impact of code smells and aesthetic defects on the usability and user experience of mobile applications. Designing frameworks and tools for assessing and improving the ergonomic quality of graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

Software Quality for Mobile Applications: Developing methods to evaluate the maintainability and robustness of mobile user interfaces. Exploring the link between UI design defects and software maintainability metrics.

Automated Refactoring and Optimization of User Interfaces: Employing machine learning, deep learning, and multi-objective optimization techniques to generate automated refactoring suggestions for user interfaces. Designing plugins and tools (e.g., PLAIN) to predict and enhance the usability of mobile UIs.

Dr. Chouchane aims to further explore the integration of artificial intelligence and human-centered design to improve user experience and software quality. Her work will continue to focus on developing automated tools and methodologies to optimize the usability, aesthetic appeal, and maintainability of mobile and web applications.
