Dr. Mathias (Matt) Plass, Associate Professor - Cybersecurity, received his DSc. Degree in Cybersecurity from Capitol Technology University in Laurel, Maryland in 2015. He received his second MS degree in Information Technology – Information Assurance from the University of Maryland University College in 2012, his first MS degree in Information Technology – Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix in 2003, and his BS degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research interests include critical infrastructure, ethics of computing, and cybersecurity education.
Prior to joining Lewis University, he was an Adjunct Professor for Norwich University and the University of Maryland Global College. He also has more than 20 years of industry experience as a Programmer, Security & Technology Manager, Senior Security Engineer, and Security Architect for Chicago Title and Trust, Safeco Insurance, Home Run Inn Inc., WOW Cable Internet and Phone, Ulta, and Joliet Junior College. He has a comprehensive understanding of security risk management, disaster recovery, ethical hacking and networking technology. As well as being knowledgeable in industry regulations such as SOX and PCI; and security frameworks such as ISO 27000, Cybersecurity Framework Model and NIST standards. He has also been a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2012.
