Sherif G. Aly Ahmed is a Professor and former Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the American University in Cairo (AUC). He previously served as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research in the School of Sciences and Engineering and as Director of the PhD Program. Beyond AUC, he was a steering committee member of the ACM/IEEE/AAAI CS2023 taskforce, contributing to the development of the latest global curricular guidelines for computing education. He brings over twelve years of experience with ABET and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC), where he chairs the Criteria Committee. He has been leading accreditation teams for over five years and will assume the role of Vice Chair of the Commission in July 2026, with a planned progression to Chair. In addition to his academic leadership, Dr. Aly has significant industry and government research experience, having worked with General Dynamics, Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore), and as a guest researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
